Despite the crisis, Slovenia continues to excel in many aspects. The latest Human Development Index (HDI) published this spring by the United Nations puts Slovenia on 21st place on a list of 187 countries. Slovenia outscored not only all the other transition economies, but also some of the world's most advanced industrial countries such as Italy or the UK. The inequality adjusted version of the index ranks Slovenia even higher, at 10th place overall.
The Global Peace Index published by the Australian Institute for Economics and Peace ranked Slovenia among the world's most peaceful countries in June: 13th among 162 countries. Slovenia is also one of the countries with the lowest risk of money laundering. Only Norway scored higher on Anti-Money Laundering Index published by Swiss Institute of Governance.
