The largest shopping centre in the northeast of Slovenia has unveiled plans for expansion of
ts shopping area. An additional 12,000 sq. metres, will increase the total surface of the Europark mall by one third.
The shopping centre, which celebrates its 5th anniversary this year, has been visited by 3.9 million shoppers in the first seven months of 2005, an increase of 5% over the same period last year, its manager Vlado Vedlin told the press on Tuesday, 23 August.
Vedlin said the turnover increased by 10% to SIT 15bn (EUR 62.6m) in the same time period, while since its opening in 2000 the mall has been visited by more than 27 million customers.
The sheer number of shoppers and encouraging business results has prompted the mall's management to consider expansion quite some time ago, explained Vedlin.
The new, enlarged Europark, will boast 40,000 sq. metres of shopping areas and 2,600 free parking spaces. The construction of the new building should be completed by the spring of 2007.
