Economics Minister Andrej Vizjak promoted Slovenia as an investment location at an economic forum in Switzerland which examined foreign investments and the international operations of companies, the Ministry of Economics said on Thursday, 01 September
At the forum in the Swiss city of Bad Ragaz, staged by the Hypo Alpe Adria Bank Lichtenstein on Thursday, Vizjak presented a paper entitled "Slovenia on the Road to Success - Direct Foreign Investments and Internationalisation".
He said the Slovenian economy is gradually strengthening its business connections, and stressed that the country is a unique combination of educated workforce, excellent geographic position, good transport connections and quality of life.
Vizjak stated that Slovenia attracted EUR 5.63bn in foreign investments until the end of 2004, mainly from EU countries. He added that he expects the investments to increase considerably in 2006 and 2007.
According to the minister, the most interesting branches for foreign direct investment are the car industry, tourist infrastructure, financial services and logistics.
The main topic of this year's forum are foreign investments and internationalisation of companies.
