Sonja Gole, the general manager of Adria Mobil, the Novo mesto-based camper and caravan manufacturer, has been chosen the manager of 2004 by the Slovenian Manager Association.
Justifying its choice, the association said the success of Adria Mobil may be largely attributed to Gole's encouragement of team work, concern for the development of employees and the managing team, efficient communicative skills, and her dedication to work.
At the company since 1980, Gole has headed Adria Mobil since 1996. Under her leadership, the once troubled company has developed into a successful firm that posts excellent business results in tough international competition, constantly expanding its production and its share on the European market, while also increasing the number of employees, says the explanation of the award.
According to the figures quoted by the Manager Association, Adria Mobil generated almost SIT 35.5bn (EUR 148m) in net sales revenues last year, up 31 percent over 2002, while it increased profit by 42 percent to over SIT 1.9bn (EUR 8m). In the first half of the year, it posted SIT 1.7bn (EUR 7m) in profit. The value added per an employee is close to SIT 5m (EUR 21,000), while the company also boasts a 38.9 percent return on capital.
One of the reasons the association decided to award its general manager is that Adria Mobil has a clear development vision of becoming one of Europe's leading manufacturers of caravans and campers. As part of these efforts, the company is currently on the course to freshen up its trade mark and carry out a comprehensive technological overhaul.
The Manager Association presented Sonja Gole with the 2004 Manager award at its traditional meeting at the seaside resort of Portoroz on Thursday, 30 September.
